Coach fares better in China

Leather handbag maker Coach has posted a better-than-expected profit for the second quarter but said sales in the US had fallen for the sixth consecutive quarter.

While sales decreased 14% to $1.22 billion, those from China rose 13% and now make up about 10% of the total.

“We were pleased with the sequential improvement in our North American comparable store sales – notably in the bricks and mortar channel – and the growth of our international businesses,” said CEO Victor Luis.
