Frog and fish skins on the agenda for summer 2016
22/01/2015
Arte na Pele, Couroquímica, Curtume Schmechel, Fuga Couros and Romeu Couros won awards for the most innovative products at the recent Inspiramais leather show in Sao Paulo.
Aguapé, an exotic skins tannery, uses a vegetable process to tan Amazonian fish pirarucu, which it offers in 40 colours.
Unusually, Curtume Schmechel highlighted its tanned frog skin as well as chamois, while Tre Anytry presented its python and cobra snake skins.
Courovale offered articles with a ‘washed’ feel and tie-dye prints while Curtume Russan predicts a ‘hippie’-inspired summer with gradient patterns.
Agreeing with Patone, which named it the colour of 2015, FAF Couros said leather accessories will be marsala, a shade of brown.
OCM Best Brasil’s highlights were leopard and jaguar prints, as well as hair-on bovine leather, while Rhoma Peles offered sheep skin, snake and croco prints in perforated and embroidered leather in coral, yellow, green and pink.
