Icelandic designer promotes fish leather to US

New York-based interior designer Bjorn Bjornsson has created a collection of fish leather furnishings and accessories sourced from Iceland-based specialist tannery Atlantic Leather.

“I liked the fact that the skins, primarily from salmon, were salvaged and recycled as a by-product of the fish industry. They are eco-friendly and beautifully textured, resembling snakeskin but more durable,” he said.

“The Ocean Leather is stretched, dried and dyed before my work room gets it from Iceland. The skin is strong and can be applied to surfaces of a cocktail table and stools, as well as bathroom and desk accessories and other artefacts.”
