Tyson Foods to close three beef facilities

17/08/2026

Tyson Foods is closing two beef facilities, in Illinois and Utah, in response to “one of the most historic cattle shortages the country has ever experienced”.

Data from the US Department of Agriculture indicates these supply constraints are likely to persist, it said.

It is also aiming to sell a beef facility in Washington.

It will centre its beef business around existing sites in Dakota City, Nebraska; Holcomb, Kansas; and Amarillo, Texas, creating “a more efficient network”.

At the start of August, it reported flat third-quarter sales of $13.9 billion as high cattle prices offset the increased prices it is charging for beef.
