Altagamma celebrates first Made in Italy day
Luxury sector association Altagamma celebrated the first national Made in Italy Day by opening an exhibition called 'The Mirror of Italian Excellence' in Rome (pictured).

The government-backed day was instigated by Altagamma to promote the luxury sector and its supply chains.

Matteo Lunelli, president of Altagamma, said: “The exhibition is an ideal journey into a sector that is a locomotive of our economy. It is worth 144 billion euros and employs over 2 million people between direct and indirect workers.

“We hope that this day will raise awareness among families of the value of Made in Italy and inspire young people, making them rediscover manufacturing professions.”

To celebrate the occasion, Altagamma also worked with the Italian Embassy in Japan to light up Tokyo Tower with the Italian tricolor.

Mr Lunelli added: “By illuminating the Tokyo Tower we want to celebrate the strong bond between Italy and Japan and the innate passion for beauty, quality and know-how that is rooted in the cultural and creative heritage of the respective countries. Japan is a key market for our sector, and luxury personal goods recorded significant sales growth in 2023 (+17%), reaching a value of 29 billion euros.”
