LVMH pushing for more craftspeople and artisans
French luxury conglomerate LVMH plans to hire 2,500 artisans and skilled craftspeople by the end of 2025.
Currently, LVMH operates six brands and 35 manufacturing facilities, employing 12,000 people, out of which 7,000 are craftsmen and creatives. The announcement was made during the 'Show Me' event in Florence by Alexandre Boquel, the director of excellent craftsmanship.
Despite its continuous growth and increased demand for its products, LVMH is facing a serious labour shortage, which is also a concern for the entire luxury industry.
LVMH and the entire luxury industry are experiencing a severe labour shortage. According to an assessment made by Comité Colbert, France has a job gap of 20,000 annually in its artisanal industry, while in Italy, Altagamma predicts a need for over 40,000 artisans in fashion and leather goods alone, and 346,000 overall in the next five years.
