During a convening of 500 business leaders in mid-December, French luxury group LVMH told stakeholders of its plans to work with the house of Chanel “to harmonise corporate and social responsibility reporting and audit schedules at the supplier level”, according to a report by WWD.

The meeting took place at UNESCO's Parisian headquarters.

LVMH also revealed it will roll out a new scheme by the name of LVMH Circularity, involving group-wide reuse of unsold product from its various brands, which now number 75 in total.

Speaking during the event, presumably also attended by representatives from Chanel, chairman and chief executive, Bernard Arnault, said: “I believe it is our duty to know how to rise above the usual patterns.

"This is why we have chosen to invite certain competitors today.”
