Italian ‘guests of honour’ begin to land in Hainan

The third edition of China International Consumer Products Expo (Hainan Expo) is to take place in Haikou between April 11 and 15. Italy is this year’s "guest of honour”.

According to reports, 145 Italian brands are thus expected to make the trip to the Chinese island province of Hainan, roughly double the number of those who took part in 2022. Among them, 75 ‘Made in Italy’ brands have been chosen by the Italian Trade Agency and Milan-based luxury association Altagamma to exhibit as part of a 1,775-square-metre Italian pavilion, also twice the size of last year’s, said local media outlet HICN.

Several participating companies, including Italy-based producers of fashion and furniture, have already touched down in the country and benefited from an expedited customs clearance arrangement, another publication reported. Delegates from luxury shoe brand Sergio Rossi, watchmaker Panerai, car manufacturers Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini, plus motorcycle brand Ducati, are all expected to display product at the show.

The total exhibition area is 100,000 square metres, 80% of which is reserved for international exhibitors from countries such as France, Germany, Japan, Spain, South Korea, Poland and the US, as well as Italy. Hainan IEDB, the local bureau for international economic development, described this year’s theme as “buy global, sell global”.
