Mercedes-Benz commits to increasing its investment in China
Automotive group Mercedes-Benz is confident of a strong recovery in China in 2023. Its chief executive, Ola Kaellenius, has said he is confident China will embark on “a path of steady recovery” this year, now that it has put covid-19 restrictions behind it.
Mr Kaellenius made the remarks at an event called the China Development Forum in Beijing on March 27. He added that he was certain China would also “strengthen its position as an innovation hub for the global auto industry”.
Mercedes-Benz is marking 20 years of activity in the Chinese market this year. It began to work in China in 2003 when it launched a long-term partnership with local automotive group BAIC.
It will now increase its investment in China, the group’s China director, Hubertus Troska, said, expand its research and development and manufacturing there and “accelerate the transformation towards electrification, digitalisation and carbon neutrality”.
