JBS Friboi facility resumes after fire
JBS, the world's largest meat processing company, has resumed operations at its Diamantino slaughterhouse in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The facility was closed for several months following a devastating fire that occurred in June.
The renovated plant is expected to employ 3,000 workers, double the number it previously employed, and process 3,600 cattle per day across two shifts. JBS has invested R$300 million (approximately $60 million) to equip the slaughterhouse with state-of-the-art machinery, making it one of the most modern meat processing facilities in the world.
The upgraded Friboi's Diamantino facility is now capable of processing more than double the previous volume of livestock, meeting the highest international market standards. Additionally, the plant will add new production lines and facilities by 2024, further increasing capacity and efficiency.
Statements made by the company said JBS's investment in the Diamantino slaughterhouse shows its commitment to the development of the regions in which it operates, creating new job opportunities and contributing to the local economy. The plant's reopening will also benefit the meat industry, which has been hit hard by the pandemic.
