Sustainable fashion focus for Première Vision Paris
Major changes for Première Vision Paris have been announced by the organisers, to take effect from the July edition, to keep pace with the industry’s changing landscape.
With an emphasis on transparency and to aid understanding of sustainable initiatives in the market, PV has chosen to support nine certifications and labels to provide an outline of the measures manufacturers are taking to become more environmentally and socially responsible. Specifically for leather, the certifying bodies chosen are the Leather Working Group and Oeko-Tex but organisers suggest more independent auditing bodies could be added at a later date.
The proposed changes will also see exhibitors gauged on six criteria: social initiatives, production site impact, suppliers' production impact, traceability, product composition and product durability and end of life, with specific pictorial logos given for each and presented, should they wish, in the exhibitor catalogue.
Through the pictogram-based guide, PV visitors can quickly identify exhibitors’ socially and environmentally sustainable commitments, as well as the products eco-responsible qualities.
Speaking of the changes, PV general manager, Gilles Lasbordes, said: “ Our privileged relationship with the manufacturers and brands has enabled us to work hand in hand to build, test and adapt a strategy that renews the show’s set-up and services, and to accompany the industry’s ecological transition. For many months, Première Vision and its teams have developed this plan internally. It represents a true challenge, and its implementation will be gradual, particularly with respect to eco-responsibility. We believe that our role has evolved, too: as the leading global platform for meetings, business and communication for the fashion industry, we also proactively offer solutions for the sector.”
The July edition of PV will take place between July 8 and 10.
