Aston Martin x Girard-Perregaux timepiece yours for $146,000
A limited-edition collection of ten watches in a single style is the result of a recent link-up between luxury British sports car manufacturer Aston Martin and Swiss fine watchmaker Girard-Perregaux.
Priced at $146,000 apiece, each Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges - Aston Martin edition watch (pictured) comes with an alligator leather strap, complete with an additional calf leather strap with rubber alloy (injected white gold on rubber) insert, which Girard-Perregaux described as a material world premiere.
Inspiration was drawn from the nineteenth-century Three Bridges pocket watch, the watchmaker said.
For its part, Aston Martin selected grade five titanium, known for its lightweight properties, suffused with black diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating for the timepiece’s 44-millimitre case. The three bridges, a signature Girard-Perregaux design element, are also fashioned from titanium, with black physical vapour disposition (PVD) treatment and polished angles.
A sapphire crystal ‘box’ at both the front and back of the watch allows for a light and airy appearance, as the Swiss manufacturer described it, which in turn highlights typically ‘invisible’ movement components.
