Tuscan-made leathergoods brand now a B Corp
San Francisco-based creator of high-end Italian leathergoods Modher recently announced its achievement of B Corporation certification.
Founded by native Sicilian Gianna Caravello in 2019, after she “realised the environmental impact of plastics in the fashion industry”, the brand is focused on designing a “better, natural leather experience”.
Modher sources certified vegetable-tanned leather from small, family-owned tanneries in Tuscany and manufactures its leathergoods at a site along the Arno river. All materials, including packaging, are sourced from local artisans.
On reaching B Corp status, Ms Caravello said: “Sustainability is more than just picking the right material. Establishing meaningful relations with our suppliers, employees and customers is key. Working for a common good and sharing the same values is one of the most important parts of our business.”
