Italy’s leather sector announces new pay agreement
Italy’s main leather industry body UNIC has announced a new collective pay agreement for tannery workers. The new agreement with trade unions replaces one that expired in October 2019 and will remain in place until the end of June 2023.
UNIC said pay increases would be limited owing to the economic challenges the leather sector is currently facing because of the covid-19 pandemic. However, the new contract also includes a provision for supplementary healthcare, which UNIC said was an important element of the industry’s commitment to social care.
