Backpacks the latest home for ‘rescued’ leather
22/03/2019
The backpack comes in two sizes, a large version and a compact version. The body of both models is made from leather offcuts that come from luxury brand Burberry. Material ‘rescued’ from decommissioned fire hoses is used in the strap, while the compact backpack has a lining made from recovered silk parachutes.
The new products are only available in a limited quantity and in a few different colours. The brand has explained: "The leather comes to us in very limited quantities, which means we can only ever craft a fixed amount of pieces. The variations available will always be subject to the leather off-cuts we are able to save.”
Elvis & Kresse first teamed up with Burberry in 2017, launching a range of homeware and accessories including woven-leather rugs.
