Elvis & Kresse to offer 'rescued' leather workshop
24/08/2018
The company was launched in 2005 to turn London’s decommissioned fire hoses, which were heading to landfill, into accessories. In 2017, it partnered with the Burberry Foundation to turn leather off-cuts into beautiful products. Using what it calls a “lego-like system”, Elvis & Kresse is able to transform small, unusable pieces into a usable material.
It has combined the recovered leather with the fire hoses to create the Fire & Hide collection. 50% of the profits from its recued leather collection are donated to renewable energy projects.
Now, the brand will offer people the opportunity to learn how one of the products in this collection is made. Those taking part will have a wide range of leather colours and textures to choose from. They will learn how to design and assemble the panels for the clutch, before Elvis & Kresse’s craftspeople finish the piece before sending it to the person.
The event takes place on September 20 at Tonge Mill, location of the brand’s workshop. There will also be the opportunity to meet the founders. Full details about the event and how to secure a place can be found on the Elvis & Kresse website.
