Lear plans for the future with new investment vehicle

Automotive seating developer Lear Corporation has launched a new branch of its business that will see it invest in early stage technologies in order to anticipate and prepare for future mobility trends.

Through this business, which is to be known as Lear Innovation Ventures (LIV) Possibilities, the company will work with venture capital firms, accelerators and incubators to invest in advanced development teams, partnerships and new technologies. It will also provide direct capital to start-ups and internal innovation projects. 

It will be led by John Absmeier, Lear’s chief technology officer. He said: "Lear is committed to a systematic process of innovation that aligns with increasing consumer demands for new intelligent and environmentally friendly technologies, a safer driving experience, a better user experience, and seamless connectivity.”
