Lear Corporation opens new factory
Automotive leather manufacturer Lear Corporation has opened its new factory in Michigan. It announced in August 2017 that it would build a new factory in Flint to be close to the General Motors (GM) plant there. Almost exactly a year later, it held an event to celebrate the formal opening of the new facility.

Lear said at the opening that, by the end of 2019, it will employ a total of 600 people in Flint, including 400 new employees whom it will recruit and train. They will supply finished seats to the GM plant in Flint and to the same automotive brand’s factory in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

On 16 occasions, GM has named Lear Corporation as its supplier of the year.
