New president for Kate Spade brand

26/03/2018
US leathergoods group Tapestry, formerly known as Coach Inc., has appointed Anna Bakst as chief executive and president of its Kate Spade brand.

She replaces Craig Leavitt, who chose to leave the accessories brand after it was acquired by Tapestry in July 2017.

In this role, Ms Bakst will be responsible for all aspects of Kate Spade’s global business. She will report to Tapestry CEO Victor Luis, who has been in charge of the brand in an interim capacity since Mr Leavitt’s departure.

“The appointment of Anna Bakst marks another key step in the evolution of the Kate Spade brand,” Mr Luis said. “She brings a rare combination of business acumen, directly related fashion experience and strong leadership skills to the company.”

Ms Bakst was president of accessories and footwear at US leathergoods group Michael Kors until January 2017. Prior to her time at Michael Kors she worked for Donna Karan International.

In January, she joined the board of directors of collagen biofabrication start-up Modern Meadow.
