Leather companies recognised for climate initiatives

Leather chemicals manufacturer Lanxess has been recognised as part of a Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) initiative to highlight companies’ efforts to cut emissions and mitigate climate risks.

The German group has been named on the Climate A List, which means it is among the top 5% of thousands of companies surveyed by the initiative.

Lanxess board member Hubert Fink said: “As a globally active chemical company, we are committed to climate protection. Readmission to the Climate A List confirms the effectiveness of our efforts in this area.”

Chemicals maker BASF and leather-using Burberry and Kering also received an ‘A’ score for their climate change initiatives.

CDP is a non-profit that drives companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources and protect forests.
