Eighteen Brazilian tanners will travel to China for ACLE

Interest in the Chinese market remains high among Brazilian tanners; the Asian country is the number-one export market for Brazilian leather, providing a 26.2% share ($263.2 million) of the total value (just over $1 billion) in the first six months of this year.

With this in mind, 18 Brazilian tanneries will travel to Shanghai for the 2017 All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE), and tanning industry organisation CICB has said it anticipates them to secure business worth around $130 million over the three days (August 30-September 1).

Brazilian leather will be represented in an exclusive CICB and Brazilian Leather project space, showcasing a collection of finished leathers, aimed at designers working on summer 2019 collections, that first went on display at the Inspiramais event in São Paulo in July. Manager of the Brazilian Leather project, Letícia Luft, said in the build-up to ACLE that the display shows Brazilian tanners’ creative potential and helps generate business.

Eighteen tanners taking part is a drop compared to ACLE in 2016, when 21 Brazilian tanners took part, and in 2015 when 23 leather manufacturers travelled. The 18 making the trip to Shanghai this time are: America Leather; Best Brasil; CBR Group - Couros Bom Retiro; Coming; Couro do Norte; Curtume Cacique; Curtume Ideal; Durlicouros; Euro-América; Fuga Couros; Gobba Leather; Hason International; Indústria de Peles Pampa; JBS Couros; Liderkoll; Luiz Fuga; Minerva and Pacific Leather.
