“Remarkable growth” for Kering’s luxury business

31/07/2017
Luxury group Kering has reported revenue of €7.3 billion for the first half of 2017. This represents an improvement of 26.5% compared to the same period of last year.

The company said there was “remarkable growth” in revenue and earnings from its luxury activities. Revenue from this segment was €5 billion, 28.3% higher year-on-year.

This growth was led by “strong momentum” at the Gucci and Saint Laurent brands, which saw respective increases of 43.4% and 28.5% in revenue.

Kering described the six-month performance of Bottega Veneta as “solid”. The brand saw a 2.0% increase in revenue. It said revenue from its other luxury brands was 10.1% higher than during the first half of 2016. This was partly due to “acceleration” at Balenciaga.
