Firefighters were called to the Arzignano-based tannery owned by the Mastrotto group on Monday after workers noticed smoke coming from a pile of skins.

Local media reported it was not yet clear how much damage has been caused.

Gruppo Mastrotto produces 21 million square-metres of finished leather every year at its 20 production and logistics plants, four of which are located outside of Italy.
