Italian leathergoods companies explore South Korean market

21/03/2017
Leathergoods manufacturers’ association AIMPES is leading 18 Italian companies on a visit to South Korea to exhibit their latest products.

The companies are showing their collections for Autumn/Winter 2017-18 at the second edition of the Mipel Leathergoods Showroom in Seoul from March 21 to 23. The event returns to South Korea following a successful first edition in October 2016.

In 2016, South Korea was the eighth most important export destination for Italian leathergoods. During that period, it imported products worth €290 million, 3.6% more than the previous year. The growth of this market has prompted AIMPES and the Italian Trade Agency ICE to increase their attention on the country.

As well as the Mipel Leathergoods Showroom, there will all be trunk shows in several multi-brand stores in the South Korean capital. For two months the stores – New At Lotte, Eleden By Lotte, ILMO and Louis Club – will dedicate a space to Italian leathergoods companies. This is designed to test the local market and get direct feedback from consumers.
