Brazilian leather exports continue revival

Brazil exported leather worth $155.8 million in November, a 7.8% increase on the same month of 2015.

This growth came despite a 9.7% year-on-year drop in the volume of exports, which came in at 14.04 million square-metres. Finished leather made up 54.9% of the total volume of leather exports, with wet-blue representing 38.5% and crust 6.6%. 

In terms of value, China snapped up 28.2% of the leather exports, followed by Italy with 15% and the US with 11.8%. The state of Rio Grande do Sul was the biggest exporter with 21.3% of the total, followed by São Paulo with 20.7%, Goiás (15%), Paraná (9.1%) and Ceará (7.3%).
