Kering extends metal-free tanning process to crocodile skins

Luxury fashion house Kering is to expand the use of its metal-free tanning process from leather accessories to the crocodile skins used in its watchstraps.

Kering’s crocodile leather is produced at the France Croco tannery in Normandy, which the fashion house acquired in 2013. It produces leather for watch straps, leathergoods, ready-to-wear and shoes.

“I’m proud of taking our metal-free tanning implementation even further,” said Marie-Claire Daveu, Kering’s chief sustainability officer. She added that this move is in line with the company’s overall sustainability strategy.
