Malawi women urged to add value to produce

FUM general coordinator Roseberry Namagowa made this statement during a three-day training event for women in agribusiness in the town of Mzimba. She noted that many women within the sector require a better understanding of how to add value to their produce as well as knowledge of business management and marketing.
"Most produce sold on the market comes in raw form and we are training these women such that they can be adding value to their produce to attract more customers and for them to yield high profits. Through the women empowerment module we are trying to make the women independent by looking at economic empowerment because we believe that if a woman is empowered economically she will be able to stand and help others in the fight against poverty," said Namagowa.
