Chinese leather associations agree to more cooperation with hides suppliers

The China Leather Industry Association website has reported on a meeting it held in Beijing with the US Hides, Skins and Leather Association.

Attendees included US ambassadors to China, representatives of the US Department of Agriculture, hides suppliers and buyers, and Chinese government officials.

The parties discussed how to ensure quality of hides and honouring contracts, which has been a problem in the past, as price fluctuations wipe out the margins on skins and parties have backed out of agreements.

Both sides said the meeting “will play a vital role in maintaining the fair market”.
