Full-year figures for 2015 show that exports of US hides last year declined by 17.4% and by 20.2% in value compared to the year before.

The figures for 2015 show that tanners and traders in the US exported 26.6 million hides to customers overseas last year, bringing in revenue of just over $2.2 billion. These numbers compare to a volume of almost 32.3 million hides and a value of almost $2.8 billion in 2014.

Last year, wet blue accounted for 28.1% of the total volume and 33.7% of the value, with fresh and wet salted hides making up the rest.

These figures have come from the US Hide, Skin and Leather Association (USHSLA).
