Brazilian tanneries target $400m from APLF

Brazilian tannery association CICB has said the 38 companies heading to Hong Kong for the Asia Pacific Leather Fair next week are targeting $400m in sales.

José Fernando Bello, executive president of CICB, said it’s the event that generates the most business.

Adriana Oliveira, from Nova Esperança do Sul-based Gobba Leather, said: “APLF Hong Kong is important because it gathers raw material, chemical products, semi-finished and finished materials. It gives us a broad idea of the production chain, as well as the opportunity to approach several markets at one event.”

The group is supported by Brazilian Leather, a project dedicated to promoting the sector in the international market and coordinated by CICB, and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).

APLF takes place between March 30 and April 1.
