Tannery of the Year: a celebration open to all
When the global leather industry gathers for the fifth Tannery of the Year Gala Awards event in Hong Kong on March 30, it will be a celebration of good practice in tanneries in all parts of the world.

Established in 2009, following a call for action at the International Leather Congress in Paris in 2007, Tannery of the Year’s aim is to offer public recognition to leaders in the leather industry who, as well as turning a waste by-product from the meat industry into the most beautiful material in the world, look after their workers, take care of the environment and uphold open and collaborative relationships with the local communities and local authorities with whom they share resources.

It’s a cause for celebration the length and breadth of the industry, which is why the Gala Awards are open to everyone in the industry. Tickets for tables of ten or for individual places are now on sale at the leatherbiz shop.

As well as fine food and wine, guests at the event, which takes place on site at the venue of the APLF exhibition, will be able to watch first hand as tanneries from Africa, the Americas, Asia excluding China, China and Europe pick up Regional Awards or Highly Commended accolades. After that, the evening will reach its highpoint with the unveiling of the fifth Global Tannery of the Year winner.
