Government bans raw hides in Hazaribagh district

Press in Bangladesh have reported that tanneries in Dhaka’s Hazaribagh district will no longer be able to work from raw hides, as a measure to limit pollution.

The tanneries also have to relocate to the Savar Industrial Park this year.

Industry Minister Amir Hossain Amu told reporters: “I have talked to the prime minister and she has agreed that rawhide will not be allowed to enter Hajaribagh’s tannery factories.”
