The group said high-end leathergoods brand Louis Vuitton had “an excellent start to the year”, adding that new products the brand has brought out during the six-month period have been “a major success” and that profitability at Louis Vuitton remains at an exceptional level.
Across its fashion and leathergoods category, which also includes Bulgari, Loewe, Fendi, Kenzo, Givenchy, Berlutti and Céline, the group reported first-half revenues of €5.9 billion, 18% more than the corresponding figure for 2014 and the highest of any category in the LVMH group. Profits on this figure reached almost €1.7 billion.
These figures mean fashion and leathergoods accounted for 35.3% of the group’s total revenues between January and June 2015 and 58.6% of its profits.
“Leathergoods experienced strong growth with the success of models in Monogram and new leather lines,” the group said on announcing the results. “Nicolas Ghesquière’s runway shows in symbolic locations received an enthusiastic welcome. Fendi recorded an excellent performance, in particular in leathergoods and accessories. Céline, Givenchy and Kenzo experienced strong growth. Other brands are further strengthening their positions.”
