Spanish leathergoods gain popularity abroad

New figures from ASEFMA, the Association of Spanish Leather Goods Manufacturers, show the country’s leathergoods exports for the first 10 months of 2014 rose 21% to €701 million.

France continues to be the main buying country, with sales of €228 million. It is followed by Italy with €59.5 million, Portugal with €58.5 million, Germany with €35.6 million and the UK with €31 million.

Japan heads the ranking of non-EU countries with €31 million, followed by China, Mexico, United Arab Emirates and the US. 

Imports of leathergoods increased 9% from January to October, reaching €751 million.
