The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations has included a project aimed at strengthening controls on animal pests and diseases to boost agricultural productivity and trade in Southern Africa in a programme of four new Africa Solidarity Trust Fund projects.

Launched last year, the Africa Solidarity Trust Fund is an Africa-led initiative to improve agriculture and food security across the continent.

For the new animal health project, the FAO will work with local partners to distribute funding in Angola, Botswana, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
