Kering said the move will focus business expertise and resources to accelerate brands’ development after reporting a slowing of growth: first quarter revenues were up just 1.2% over 2013.
Mr Bizzarri will retain his role at the Italian leathergoods company until a replacement can be found.
He will oversee Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Brioni, Christopher Kane, McQ, Stella McCartney, Tomas Maier and Sergio Rossi.
Alexis Babeau, managing director of the luxury division since March 2011, has left the group.
François-Henri Pinault said: “Alexis played a key role in identifying and implementing operational synergies between our brands, while maintaining the creative independence that makes each of them unique.”
In the first quarter of 2014, Kering recorded €2.4 billion in revenue. The luxury arm posted growth of 6.3%, with directly operated stores turning in strong performances across all regions.
