Increasing testing is a burden, says IULTCS
One of the issues on the agenda at the next meeting of the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists (IULTCS) will be the development by the International Union Chemical Commission of a standard for ‘Critical Chemical Substances in leather’, along with appropriate leather test methods.
“Increased testing and restricted substances lists (RSLs) that have little meaning or relevance for leather is an increasing burden for the industry,” said the body.
The executive will meet on March 3 during the Asia Pacific Leather Fair (APLF) in Hong Kong.
It will approve final plans for the 10th Asian International Conference on Leather Science and Technology which will be held in Okayama, Japan, in November and review plans for the next IULTCS World Congress, which is scheduled for Brazil in 2015.
