Ferragamo reports progress on leather traceability
Italian luxury group Ferragamo says it can now map the country of origin for much of the leather used in its footwear and handbags, according to its 2025 sustainability report.
Chief product officer James Ferragamo said the company has improved visibility across its supply chain, with sustainability director Davide Triacca stating that more than 80% of its leather can now be traced through supplier declarations.
The update comes as new EU sustainability rules increase pressure on fashion brands to improve material traceability, although experts note that country-level mapping does not yet provide full chain of custody.
Ferragamo reported €976.5 million ($1.1 billion) in revenue in 2025, with leather goods and footwear accounting for 86% of sales.
