Assopellettieri appoints first woman president

Italian leathergoods manufacturers’ association Assopellettieri has elected Claudia Sequi as its new president, replacing Franco Gabbrielli, who took office in 2019.

Ms Sequi, who runs Florence-based handbag brand Claudia Firenze, will be the first female president of the association and will continue the good work overseen by Franco Gabbrielli, focusing on Made in Italy.

Other areas she will focus on include training, sustainability and other dialogues with institutions on internationalisation, with emphasis on luxury brands, SMEs and manufacturers.

Assopellettieri also has four new vice-presidents, to represent various divisions of the association and to respond to the different needs of the member companies.

The new presidential team are: Stefania Orselli, Gucci global people & labour law industrial-relations director, who will oversee relations with institutions and trade unions; Stefano Giacomelli, CEO, Tivoli Group to represent large-scale manufacturers for brands; Riccardo Braccialini, CEO, Pelletteria Fiorentina Montecristo who will manage relations with Confindustria and Confindustria Moda, and Carlo Briccola, plant director of the Olgiate Comasco plant of Bric’s Valigeria Fine, who will be a point of reference for young entrepreneurs and the travel sector.
