Leather gloves project to create jobs in Botswana

25/07/2023
Representatives from the mining and agriculture industries in Botswana have vowed to source protective leather gloves locally as part of a joint project set up by the government, the European Union and local manufacturers.

The project will boost 15 local manufacturing companies, according to reports, with training courses held at the Gaborone Leather Industry Incubator.

The European Union is supporting the technical steering committee, will provide resources and host training workshops.

Gabronne Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) acting CEO Godfrey Molefe told local press: “Through this project we hope that the leather industry will bring opportunities across the leather value chain, such as creating jobs, and develop useful products that will help to reduce the import bill and dependency on imported leather products.”
