Design competition will raise Kind Leather’s profile, JBS hopes

21/03/2022

Leather manufacturing group JBS Couros has launched a new partnership with the organisers of the Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags events in Italy to raise the profile of its Kind Leather concept among finished product manufacturers.

It launched Kind Leather in March 2019 as a range of finished leather that offers savings in water consumption of up to 45% compared to standard leather production, and of 42% in chemicals consumption.

Part of the offering of the group’s Priante tannery in Italy, Kind Leather also offers a saving of 20% in energy consumption and carbon emissions that are 65% lower than standard levels.

JBS Couros has said Kind Leather also offers a 50% reduction in trimmings.
Now designers have until March 31 to register to take part in a new competition called Design Kind Leather. They must submit ideas for a capsule collection of between eight and 15 products.

From the ideas that come in, JBS Couros will select a group of finalists, who will receive the Kind Leather they require to produce the capsule collections they have conceived. They will have until May 31 to finish this work.

Finalists will then travel to Lake Garda in June to present their collections, with travel expenses paid by JBS Couros. The winner will be announced at a special ceremony during Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags.
