This year’s edition of leather exhibition APLF, due to commence in Dubai next month, is set to include 27 export-oriented tanners from Pakistan, the Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) has revealed.

Organised within a national pavilion, these tanneries will include Akram, Hafiz, HMB, Riaz, Universal Leather and Royal Leather Industries, all of whom are reportedly looking to prospect new markets in Africa, Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Home to around 800 tanneries in total, Pakistan produces roughly 13 million hides and 47.4 million skins annually, PTA said. Its secretary general, Muhammad Ali, suggested that all of the tanners who will journey to Dubai are expecting to do “enormous business” at the fair.
