Chief executive of Lahore-based Rafum Industries, Zahid Hussain, has been elected new Chairman of Pakistan Footwear Manufacturing Association (PFMA) for 2021-2022.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Hussain said the challenges the footwear industry faces in Pakistan include the local tax regime and duties on raw materials.

He argued that materials footwear manufacturers bring in ought to attract the lowest level of customs duty and that the government should help manufacturers build and promote a ‘made in Pakistan’ policy.
