Marfrig partners with APPEC to explore Paraguay market
Brazilian food processor Marfrig has signed a memorandum of intent with the Paraguayan Association of Meat Producers and Exporters (APPEC) to explore potential investments in Paraguay.
The partnership, Marfrig said, is expected to follow that same model that it adopted with National Beef, meaning local producers are partners in the project. Marfrig will hold an 85% interest in the business and APPEC will hold the other 15%.
According to the agreement, Marfrig will bring expertise in technology, production, marketing and logistics, while APPEC aims to guarantee the supply of cattle and share knowledge about local markets to “enable the sustainable development of the business, high product quality and competitive prices”.
