The former executive director of Greenpeace in Brazil, Marcelo Furtado, has agreed to sit on the sustainability committee of beef and leather producer Marfrig.

Mr Furtado headed up Greenpeace’s work in Brazil between 2008 and 2013. Since then, he has gone on to launch a variety of sustainability-focused business ventures, including ZScore, a platform that uses blockchain technology to provide companies with traceability solutions.

Marfrig founder, Marcos Molina dos Santos, said it was a privilege for the company to be able to count on the experience that Mr Furtado could bring.
