Tyson’s fire-ravaged Kansas plant to reopen in December
Meatpacker Tyson has released images of its Kansas plant which was severely damaged by a fire in August.

Only three months on from the accident, it has said it will be ready to resume operations in December and be fully operational by January.

Reconstruction included replacing support beams and the roof, hydraulic piping and pumps, installing new wiring and the reconstruction of all new electrical panel rooms and equipment, costing an estimated $21 million.

“We recognise the disruption the fire caused for our suppliers and our customers and are more than pleased to announce we are in the final stages of reconstruction,” said Steve Stouffer, president of Tyson Fresh Meats.

“Our team is ready to begin the process of ramping back up, recognising that there will be testing and adjustments over the first few weeks to ensure equipment functionality while maintaining our commitment to team member safety and food safety.”
