Light at the end of the tunnel for the leather pipeline?
The author of our exclusive Leather Pipeline reports suggests there might be light at the end of the tunnel as segments of the market regain some balance.

Although there are still stocks of lower grade material languishing and sales in this area are “grim”, in other sectors the market looks like it is rebounding and in some segments is even healthy.

He said: “Slowly but surely the reshuffle in the market is having an effect, which might not make everybody happy but the stalemate and pessimism appears to be fading.”

As we approach holiday season, orders are picking up and tanners are getting busier.

US hides suppliers are benefitting and are carefully managing their pricing so as not to lose market share. “For the time being, the US has returned to a balance between supply and demand, despite the high kill this year.”
