Law Tanning has added another recruit to what it calls its “growing roster of new talent”. It has appointed Ian Rodden, a recent graduate from the University of Northampton’s Institute for Creative Leather Technology (ICLT), to a technical role at its tannery in Milwaukee.

As part of the course at Northampton, Ian Rodden completed internships at leather chemicals manufacturers Chemtan and Union Specialties in his native New England. At Chemtan, he studied retanning, colouring and fatliquoring, with a particular focus on waterproofing. At Union Specialties, he spent time in the quality control lab and worked on finishing systems.

“Law Tanning is pleased to bring Ian on board as one of our new technical directors,” said company president, Ryan Law. “Ian comes from a family with a rich background of leather making experience. He is young and eager to explore new technologies and future opportunities that the US leather industry will provide.”
