Founded in 1970 by artists and artisans, Wanny and Nadia di Filippo, Il Bisonte became famous for its independent spirit. However, following injuries to Mr di Filippo in a serious car accident, UK-based private equity firm Palamon Capital Partners acquired the brand in 2015.
Palamon recruited former Ferragamo general manager Sofia Ciucchi as chief executive and oversaw revenue growth from €20 million at the time of the acquisition to double that amount now thanks to expansion across the US, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
This expansion included the opening of directly managed stores in London, New York and Hong Kong, and global points of sale increased from around 200 to more than 400.
Commenting on the sale of the brand, Ms Ciucchi said: “It has been a real pleasure to work with the team at Il Bisonte and Palamon to develop this unique brand into a global, multi-channel business. We now look forward to a bright future for Il Bisonte through our new partnership with Look.”
