Fish leather under the microscope for Horizon 2020
Icelandic tannery Atlantic Leather has been included in Horizon 2020, the European Union’s biggest research project that made €8 billion available over seven years (2014-2020) to secure Europe's “global competitiveness”.

The project will bring together academics, scientists and designers to improve methods for fish skin production to help address sustainability issues in the fashion industry.

They said: “We are so excited to be working with experts in their own field and we cannot wait to start the work, which will lead us to even more sustainable solutions.”

Atlantic Leather was a finalist in the Tannery of the Year 2016 competition. A full report is available to download as a pdf from the Tannery of the Year section of this website.
